Configuration
1 field, 1 required. A dotted path is a nested object and name[] an array of objects — the editor renders the same tree.
| Field | Type | Required | Default | Constraints | Example |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
user The user id to check (U… or W…). Supports {{ }}. | string | Yes | — | — | — |
Output
One shape.
result
| Field | Type | Example |
|---|---|---|
user The user id that was checked. | string | — |
presence Either 'active' or 'away'. | string | active |
online True when Slack reports a live connection. | boolean | — |
auto_away True when Slack set them away on inactivity. | boolean | — |
manual_away True when the user set themselves away. | boolean | — |
{
"auto_away": false,
"manual_away": false,
"online": false,
"presence": "active",
"user": ""
}Notes
- The bot must be a member of a private channel before it can act there (Slack answers not_in_channel otherwise).
- Slack rate-limits each Web API method on its own tier; a throttled call fails with the number of seconds to wait and is safe for the node's retry policy to repeat.
- online, auto_away and manual_away are only populated for a user token.
Templates that use Slack
See Get User Presence run in a workflow.
In a technical demo we add the Slack connection, drop the node on the canvas and let Workflow Health pre-flight it before the first real run.
