Get Execution Output

rundeck.get_execution_output
ActionBusiness appsconnection required

Calls the Rundeck API with the connection's credentials.

Read the log entries an execution produced.

Connection

Required
Yes — the node will not save without one
Auth type
API key
Providers
Rundeck
Secret shape
the API token, or {"api_token": "…"}
Config it needs
base_url, api_version, project
Resolved by
config.connection_id, else node.connection_id

Configuration

4 fields, 1 required. A dotted path is a nested object and name[] an array of objects — the editor renders the same tree.

FieldTypeRequiredDefaultConstraintsExample
execution_id
The execution to act on; rundeck.run_job emits it as 'id'.
numberYes—≥ 11234
offset
Start reading at this byte offset; pass back the offset a previous call returned to follow a running execution.
numberNo—≥ 0—
max_lines
Return at most this many log entries from the offset onwards.
numberNo—≥ 1—
last_lines
Return only the last few entries instead of reading from an offset.
numberNo—≥ 1—

Example configuration

Every value below is the contract’s own example or default — nothing invented.

{
  "execution_id": 1234
}

Output

One shape.

FieldTypeExample
id
The execution the log belongs to.
number—
entries
One entry per log line Rundeck returned.
array—
entries[].time
When the line was logged.
string—
entries[].level
The line's log level.
string—
entries[].log
The line itself.
string—
entries[].node
The node that produced the line.
string—
count
How many entries this page carried.
number—
offset
The offset to send back to read the next page.
number—
completed
True when this page reached the end of the log.
boolean—
execCompleted
True when the execution itself has finished.
boolean—
execState
The execution's state at the time of the read.
string—
execDuration
How long the execution has run, in milliseconds.
number—
percentLoaded
How much of the log this read covered.
number—
totalSize
The log's total size in bytes.
number—
hasFailedNodes
True when at least one node failed.

Notes

  • Following a running execution means calling this again with the 'offset' the previous call returned.

See Get Execution Output run in a workflow.

In a technical demo we add the Rundeck connection, drop the node on the canvas and let Workflow Health pre-flight it before the first real run.
