MongoDB
MongoDB database — ping connectivity test.
MongoDB has no typed nodes of its own: it connects as a stored credential that 9 generic nodes use — the node picks MongoDB from the connection you select.
Before you connect MongoDB
- Authentication
- Username & password
- Credential
- the MongoDB connection string (mongodb://… or mongodb+srv://…)the store's own secret: an API key, a Postgres password, a MongoDB URI
- Connection test
- Available: the stored credential can be checked against the provider when you add it. This is not a record that a test was run or passed.
- Prerequisites
- The connection must belong to the provider the chosen store uses: pinecone, qdrant, weaviate, postgres (pgvector) or mongodb (Atlas). store=in_memory needs no connection. Embedding uses a second, separate connection (embedding_connection_id).
Prerequisites are taken from the connection notes of the nodes listed below that accept your MongoDB credential.
What you can do with MongoDB
Operations of the generic nodes your MongoDB connection drives, grouped by what they do to your data.
Create and send 3
- Insert Document
- Create Collection
- Upsert
Read and search 4
- Find
- Describe Collection
- List Collections
- Query
Delete and cancel 1
- Delete
Other operations 1
- Database Stats
Nodes that use your MongoDB connection
These generic nodes accept your MongoDB credential. Each chooses the provider from the connection you select, so the same node also works with the other providers shown.
- MongoDB: Database Statsmongo.db_statsSize audit of the cluster: every database's disk/data/index size (listDatabases + dbStats) with per-collection storage stats.
- MongoDB: Findmongo.findQuery documents from a MongoDB collection with a filter.
- MongoDB: Insert Documentmongo.insert_oneInsert one document into a MongoDB collection.
- Vector: Create Collectionvector.create_collectionCreate a collection (index / class / table) sized for one embedding model.
- Vector: Deletevector.deleteDelete records from a vector store by id, by metadata filter, or all of them.
- Vector: Describe Collectionvector.describe_collectionRead one collection's width, metric and record count.
- Vector: List Collectionsvector.list_collectionsList the collections a vector store holds.
- Vector: Queryvector.queryFind the records nearest to a query text or vector, with metadata filtering.
- Vector: Upsertvector.upsertWrite documents and their vectors into a vector store, with metadata.
A sample MongoDB workflow
- 1A core triggerStart the run from a chat, form, manual, schedule, webhook, workflow trigger — no MongoDB trigger is needed.
- 2Findmongo.findQuery documents from a MongoDB collection with a filter.
- 3Database Statsmongo.db_statsSize audit of the cluster: every database's disk/data/index size (listDatabases + dbStats) with per-collection storage stats.
An outline built from this provider’s node contracts, not a recorded run. Each step’s output fields are available to the next in the field picker.
MongoDB questions
- How does OCNORA authenticate with MongoDB?
- With a stored Username & password credential, shaped the MongoDB connection string (mongodb://… or mongodb+srv://…) or the store's own secret: an API key, a Postgres password, a MongoDB URI. A connection test can check it when you add it.
- What can I automate with MongoDB?
- MongoDB has no typed nodes of its own. Your MongoDB connection is used by MongoDB: Database Stats (mongo.db_stats), MongoDB: Find (mongo.find), MongoDB: Insert Document (mongo.insert_one), Vector: Create Collection (vector.create_collection), Vector: Delete (vector.delete), Vector: Describe Collection (vector.describe_collection) and 3 more.
- What if the MongoDB operation I need is not listed?
- Where MongoDB has an HTTP API, call it from the HTTP node with the same credential, or describe the step to the AI builder, which asks our team for a typed node when one is missing.
- Are there templates that use MongoDB?
- Not yet. Start from a blank workflow, or describe the workflow to Build with AI.
- How are MongoDB calls controlled?
- Every call and every run step is audited, runs count against the execution budget, and Workflow Health pre-flights the workflow when you save it.
