Compare · Google Cloud Workflows

Google Cloud Workflows and OCNORA, by the job in front of you.

Google Cloud Workflows is a managed orchestration service for calling services and HTTP APIs in a defined order, with retries, parallel steps and callbacks. OCNORA is a visual workflow platform for business processes across apps, AI agents under approvals and budgets, embedding and development tasks. They overlap less than a feature table would suggest, and many teams run both. Every Cloud Workflows statement below links to Google’s own documentation, with the date we read it.

Every Google Cloud Workflows figure on this page is quoted from a page Google Cloud Workflows publishes, and links to it with the date we read it (oldest: 2026-09-28). OCNORA numbers are counted from the running catalogue on 2026-09-22. We do not state what Google Cloud Workflows lacks — only what each of us publishes.

By workload

When Google Cloud Workflows fits.

Start from the workload, not the feature list. Both products call HTTP APIs, retry, and wait for people; the difference is who builds the workflow, where it lives, and what it touches.

By workload

When OCNORA fits.

These are statements about OCNORA, not about anyone else.

  • Visual business workflows across apps

A visual builder with expressions and a test step, over 1,000+ providers and 7,600+ documented node types, for the teams who own the process rather than the platform.

  • AI agents with approvals and budgets

An agent node with tools and memory, in the same graph as the approvals and budgets around it. A human.prompt step suspends a run until a person answers or its timeout lapses, then routes on the answer or on the timeout branch. The decision is recorded with the run. Every model call is written to a ledger with its tokens and USD cost. Monthly token and USD budgets per workspace and per provider (on Embedded, per tenant) are checked before a call from an estimate and reconciled after it; a circuit breaker holds further calls when a budget is used up or a provider keeps failing.

  • Embedded in your own product

The builder embedded by iframe with JIT SSO, and per-tenant budgets, plugins and secrets on one multi-tenant control plane.

  • Development tasks

Task Runs: a scoped engineering task is taken in on the platform, handed to a configured development runner, checked by the project’s own commands, and held for human review. It is offered to customers and used by OCNORA’s own product teams.

  • Checked before the first run

Workflow Health validates each workflow and pre-flights its connections on save and publish. Auto Fix repairs one broken node at a time and re-checks; a code finding it cannot answer can go to a host runner as a draft pull request or an issue; every other finding is handed to a person.

Together

When to use both.

OCNORA’s integration catalogue includes Google Cloud Workflows, so the two can hand work to each other in either direction.

  • OCNORA hands the Google Cloud part to Cloud Workflows

OCNORA’s Google Cloud Workflows integration can list workflows, start an execution with a JSON argument and read an execution back, so a business workflow — after an approval, say — can hand its Google Cloud steps to a workflow your platform team owns.

  • Cloud Workflows starts an OCNORA workflow

A Cloud Workflows step can call any HTTP-based API, including an OCNORA trigger.webhook, to start the business side: notify the right people, collect a decision, update the apps around it.

  • Split by who owns the change

The platform team keeps service orchestration in YAML or JSON next to its infrastructure; the business and operations teams own the cross-app process in OCNORA’s builder, with its run history and audit log.
